Murphy Canada Exploration

Dear Mr. ******

I wish to bring to your attention that the actions of Murphy Oil are going from bad to worse.

Last week I had problems with Murphy Oil about closing and locking gates. On Thursday, March 7, I contacted ****** about my concerns and he said he would look after them right away. I also put a sign on the perimeter gate stating the concerns about all the gates. On Friday, March 8, it seems that no one paid attention as only the perimeter gate was being closed during the day.

I then contacted ******, as he stated to me during negotiations that he would be making sure the contractors were doing as they were supposed to do. ****** said he would get right on it. All day Saturday no one paid any attention to keeping these gates closed during the day.

As no one from Murphy seemed to be addressing my concerns, I padlocked 2 of the gates in question hoping to get some response as it seemed my requests were falling upon deaf ears.

On Sunday, no one called or came to the house or in any way tried to contact me about the locks. They chose to cut one lock and undo the other by undoing gate wire.

Mr. ******, it is very important that you understand the lack of prudence and the seriousness of Murphy Oil cutting the landowners locks without any attempt to find out why the locks were there. Also, note my attempts to have these concerns addressed before the gates were locked.

A detailed report of the actions of Murphy Oil is being compiled and shall be distributed sometime after the construction is completed.

Note: Recieved a letter from Murphy president nine months later in December 2002. He said "We will replace any damaged locks and fencing at our costs. You have my sincere apology on these incidents". This is now almost three years later and no one has made any mention of, or come to replace my locks or fix my gates, which I have since had to repair myself.
