The Alberta Energy
and Utilities Board (EUB) is an independent, quasi-judicial agency of the
Alberta Government. Its mission is to ensure that the discovery, development,
and delivery of Alberta's energy resources and utility services take place in a
manner that is fair, responsible, and in the public interest.
Quasi: as if; in a sense or manner; seemingly.
Quasi-judicial: having to do with powers that are somewhat judicial.
Above all,
we know our processes must be fair.

directly affected by planned oil and gas development? At the Alberta Energy and
Utilities Board (EUB), we believe you deserve a fair chance to be heard. The
first step is that companies must consult with the neighbours of their planned
projects before they submit an application to the EUB.

The foregoing is how the EUB tries to portray itself. From here on I shall try to reflect the truth as I have experienced it.
My experiences with the EUB and their relationship with the gas/oil, utility industry and landowners have been going on since 2003. During this period of time I have lost all sense of fairness, honesty, integrity or any other positive attributes that the EUB may try to portray.
In August of 2006 I attended a public hearing in Red Deer. To attend one of these hearings is a real eye opener. These hearings are generally recorded and you get to experience the actual feelings of the people.
I have taken from transcripts just a few of the many ways that John Q Public felt about the
EUB at these proceedings.
